Module 2, Lesson 14: What are the Problem Types for Multiplication & Division

Word Problems

Objective

Get a broad overview of the 9 different problem types for multiplication and division.

What You’ll Learn

In this section, we will solve a lot of word problems!  I have created videos for each multiplication and division word problem type using a variety of one and two-digit numbers.

Also included are three problems per problem type for you to solve and reflect on your process.  While it may seem tedious to solve all of these word problems, it is beneficial to go through the process and pay attention to HOW you are solving the problems.

The process will change your mindset.  You will apply new mathematical strategies and develop new vocabulary to use with students.

Yes, using consistent vocabulary is important for students. Knowing the relationship between multiplication and division is also important.
